Counter narratives against Jihadism: Truth or propaganda?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The topic of the counter narrative -actions\naiming to dismantle the argument<\/strong> on\nwhich terrorists of any kind try to legitimize their immoral actions, make\ntheir demands known and incite potential sympathizers to join their cause- has\naroused extensive comment in recent years in specialized forums against\nterrorism, whether academic, governmental or security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This interest has skyrocketed,\nspecially, after the control demonstrated by the Islamic State<\/strong> over the art of propaganda, however this is called,\naccording to the last definition. And is that when the Protestant prince-electors\n\u2013to date back just a little- didn\u2019t know a single word of \u00abStrategic Communication Management\nTechniques<\/em>\u00bb they used them with extraordinary effectiveness against\nthe Papal States and Spain: the propaganda existed before it was theorized\nabout it. Nevertheless, in many contributions about counter narrative, regarding to the story capable\nto undermine the attractiveness that the jihadist terrorism has for a certain\nsector of the population seems to underlie a marketing idea that probably is\nnot an adequate strategy<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is repeated, with enthusiastic\nemphasis, that it is precise to delegitimize the Islamic State revealing that\nthe \u201creal Islam\u201d doesn\u2019t belong to him, that Islam doesn\u2019t approve the\nviolence, that the jihad has been misinterpreted, that must progress to a\n\u201cmoderate\u201d Islam. However, there is a lack of approaches<\/strong> that confront the issue with the courage of asking, \u201cwhat\nabout if these postulates aren\u2019t true?\u201d What about if the Islamic State defends\nan Islam that legitimately can be build from the Quran and the hadiths?\u201d The\njihadist terrorism wont be defeated with a made-up story: should be defeated opposing the historical, political and philosophical truth, being\nthe one that turns out to be, after a rigorous study and unrelated to the political\ncorrectness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And for that it is essential to\ncompromise with the question of \u201chow is it really Islam?\u201d Not how the political correctness<\/strong> explains it, but\nhow it is explained in its sacred book and the sunnah. How was the life of\nIslam\u2019s Messenger. What did Archangel Gabriel \u201ccommand\u201d Muhammad to do. It is\nessential to be prepared that what he was commanded to do was the jihad and, it\nis certain that, there is evidence that it could be that way: Muhammad\u2019s\ncanonical biography, of Ibn Ishaq, represents a skilled military chief that\ndoesn\u2019t doubt to instigate war when appears to be convenient (like the battle\nof Badr), commanding the removal of those who offend him (like the poet Kab Ibn\nAl Ashraf) neither in taking revenge against the Jews of Medina when they\nresulted to be an obstacle very inconvenient. The Hadiths tell\nus, in an exemplary way, that Mohammad\u2019s subjects\ntook away the life of those who resulted to be inconvenient receiving in\nexchange beatitude promises\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is that there is enough\nevidence to consider the dreadful possibility that the texts that contain Rumiyah<\/em> are the correct interpretation<\/strong> of Islam. This idea is not unreasonable,\nespecially when the Muslim doctrine was definitely set before the second\nmillennium of our era. It is necessary to consider as soon as possible that\nmaybe Abu Baker Al Baghdadi has tried to perform exactly what Mohammad proposed\nand practiced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, to clarify if that is the\ncase is the responsibility of the highest authorities of Islam. But, until that\nhappens, the most effective counter narrative wont be to repeat an unnecessary made-up\nIslam, created in occidental<\/strong>\nthink-tanks, but to advocate for the implementation, by convincement, of a\nmoral order in which a person is respected by his inviolable dignity, equal\nto his peers, and that excludes the use of violence\nfor the imposition of an ideal. That narrative\nwar, an all out war to dismantle the contradictions and the fallacies until facing\neach individual with its personal responsibility to\nchoose or reject forever the violence, is the\nonly possible one<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
